Help us raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer!

Help us raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer!

This summer, we are striving to raise as much money as possible for a charity which is always close to our hearts here at Spectrum, but even more so recently. Target Ovarian Cancer is an amazing charity that we have supported for many years. They are dedicated to a world where all women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer receive the life saving treatment they need. Jo has previously climbed the Three Peaks to raise money for this amazing cause and this year she is pushing herself even further.

In an effort to top the previous challenge of climbing the Three Peaks, Jo has decided to push herself even further this time and will be doing a skydive in August. We’re asking for donations that can be sent via Jo’s JustGiving page – if you can spare any money, a little or  a lot, we would really appreciate any donations

In addition to this, we will be donating 5% of all our Trade Counter sales until the end of August to this worthy cause. Simply pop into our Trade Counter at Londesborough Business Park and browse our range of cleaning products. We’ve also recently extended our range to include health and beauty so why not pick up all your household essentials and know that you are helping to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer at the same time.

Any amount, small or large is appreciated and will go towards the amazing work that Target Ovarian Cancer including research into causes and treatments as well as support for those living with the condition.

Are you getting ready to reopen your business post-Coronavirus?

Are you ready to reopen your business post-Coronavirus?

Since mid-March when the Government ordered non-essential business to close their doors due to the growing risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the world seems have become a very different place. As consumers and business-owners, we have got used to long queues and takeaway-only services, staff wearing PPE and signage telling us where to stand and which direction to move around the supermarket. For some people (for example those who are shielding) who may have stayed indoors completely, those first tentative steps outside will come very soon.

With the risk level across the UK recently being downgraded and the Government’s announcement regarding easing restrictions, we are all looking forward to the world starting to return to normal.Businesses such as restaurants, pubs, cinemas and hair salons will be allowed to open their doors to the paying public on 4th July, all provided they are COVID-secure. If your business is due to reopen, are you ready?

What does COVID-secure mean?

Being COVID-secure includes several steps to minimise the risk of Coronavirus spreading in your premises. Not only must you make sure you are following the published Government guidance, but you also need to carry out thorough risk assessments specific to your business and then put all necessary control measures in place. This will include cleaning measures, PPE requirements and logistical measures such as how many people you’ll be able to welcome into your premises while adhering to social distancing.

We understand that it can seem like an overwhelming task and that you may be nervous about what the future of your business looks like, so we wanted to help. As a part of the Scarborough community for more than 20 years, here at Spectrum we feel passionate about helping businesses get back on their feet and kick-starting the local economy as soon as possible.

Introducing Spectrum – Back to Business

We’ve been putting together a series of guides and documents which are completely free to use and will help you and your business get set up for success over the coming weeks. From printable awareness posters to risk assessment templates, product recommendations to cleaning procedures and checklists, you can get ahead and start planning everything you need to welcome your customers back.

Whether you’re due to open on 4th July, you’ve already been operating with limited services, or you have to wait a bit longer to see your customers again, it’s crucial that you spend some time assessing how ready your business is. Your staff will want to know what their safety is being considered, as will your customers.

The accolade demonstrates that Spectrum only source supplies from manufacturers and distributors who adhere to high quality standards for qualifying products.

Trading in the town for over 20 years and employing 14 people, Spectrum supply cleaning and hygiene products, washroom services and hygiene management consultancy to businesses in the UK, and specialise in the Hospitality, Education, Facilities Management and Healthcare sectors.

Jo Thompson, Managing Director at Spectrum Cleaning Solutions said “unfortunately, as with all businesses, dodgy traders can compromise the overall reputation of an industry.  They sell products that don’t correlate with what is specified on the packaging”

She continued “So, in a bid to raise industry values and reassure our own customers, we asked the CHSA to undertake their independent audit on our supplies and quality assurance procedures to ensure we were meeting the standards required.

We are pleased with the outcome of this audit which has helped our customers be sure that when they buy from us, an Accredited Distributor, what’s on the box is what’s in the box, so they can be reassured that they are getting what they are paying for.”

Jo concluded “the CHSA Accredited Distributor marque shows our commitment to providing the highest possible quality products to our customers, we are committed to maintaining this assurance which will require twice yearly audits by an independent inspector.

In addition, we hope that our high standards will encourage other companies within the industry to follow suit”
