In cleaning procedures there is often one area that is overlooked; something that seems so obvious yet commonly enough is totally neglected. This forgotten area involves the cleaning of the actual cleaning products and equipment themselves, from mops, cloths, buckets, wipers, spray bottles, pressure washers, anything that your organisation uses during a cleaning procedure.
On reflection, it seems almost ironic that the things one uses to disinfect and sanitise could in fact themselves be ridden with bacteria. Clearly, in order to sustain effective and successful cleaning this needs to change, and it really needn’t be at all complex.
From experience, we have found that a colour coding system is an easy, highly visible way of controlling the movement of equipment between areas of cleaning. To take this further, a complete set of equipment may be provided for each procedure, greatly minimising the risk of the same cleaning tools being used consecutively without being cleaned themselves.
We understand that for some, this may seem like a daunting, hugely time-consuming process to have to undertake, and this is why we have developed our ‘Hygiene Management Scheme’: a support system decided specifically for you. The scheme incorporates a number of supportive areas, three of which will help you to systemise your cleaning procedures including the cleaning of equipment. These areas include education, infection control and compliance. If this sounds like something you are interested in, click on the link below to find out more!
