Hi there

On the approach to Christmas, our team have been busy delivering a whopping 15,000 Christmas napkins, 5000 party poppers, 10,000 Christmas table covers and 4150 Christmas crackers.  Kelsey dressed our tree yesterday and with talk of wearing our Christmas jumpers to work soon, I think we are now getting into the festive mood!  We hope everything is going to plan for you too.

Protecting Cleaners - Preventing dermatitis – Have you assessed your risks?

The HSE website recently showed that a healthcare provider has been fined £100,000 in a case relating to poor management of work related contact dermatitis.

Employers have a Duty of Care to assess the risks that could cause occupational dermatitis – and take the necessary preventative actions.  One of the most effective contributions to the successful prevention of the problem is the implementation of a structure skin care programme.

Our Hygiene Management Scheme can help you reduce your risks in this area and sourcing products such as Carehands barrier cream, which quickly improves the condition of rough, dry, damaged skin, restoring it to a healthy appearance. Carehands helps protect and maintain the natural barriers the skin needs to stay healthy and clean up faster.

On offer this month, Carehands costs just £24.50 for 6x500mls pumps which can be refilled from a 5 litre bottle for better economy in use.

It’s all about you!

We are always keen to receive constructive feedback and regularly ask for this in account review meetings.  This helps our business be the best it can be.  Our customers are centric to all we do – and every decision we make has our customer’s best interests at the heart of it.

This week, the beautiful Feversham Arms Hotel has thanked us because we “deliver great service and products with a very personal touch and very very likely to recommend to others” Thanks team Feversham, it is a pleasure to serve you!

Help is always at hand

We managed to help one of our customers with an issue stemming from double body incontinence recently.  By recommending a biological stain and odour digester that effectively degraded the organic soiling which had absorbed into the carpet and upholstery, the odours and staining were easily and effectively removed.  Our account manager assisted the customer with the use of Micro Clean all the way and left them with a full written procedure to be followed when the same incident occurs again.  If you would like to try it, our newsletter offer price is £18.50 for 5 litres.  Quote MCDEC17 when ordering.

As always, it would be great to hear from you. We are always interested to know what you are doing and to see where we can help.

We continue to feed into Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, seeing them as a great platform to quickly supply specialist knowledge. We have loved sharing experiences and information with both our customers and expert industry leaders and we want to share these hints and tips with as many of our customer as possible, so if you don’t already, please follow us on:

Some of the Spectrum team have enjoyed experiencing the new £14 million alpine themed waterpark that opened in July.  Alpamare, a world class attraction, which we are pleased to say, chose to build on our doorstep and also use us as their supplier for cleaning and hygiene supplies, boasts a giant indoor wave pool and adrenaline inducing waterslides and pumping 20,900 litres of water per minute, four person inflatables will hurtle riders down more than 14 metres of twists and turns!  We would highly recommend you pay it a visit.

Health and Safety Information

Please refer to the relevant COSHH safety data sheets.

Warning
Wear suitable PPE as per your COSHH assessments.

1. Take a spoonful of wax (about the size of a golf ball) and put it in a duster.

2. Wrap the duster around the wax ball and knead until soft.

3. Treating one small area at a time, rub the ball in a circular motion.

4. When the surface dulls, wipe off excess wax using a clean, soft, duster. For better results, turn the duster frequently.

5. Repeat waxing and wiping until the entire piece is waxed. If you notice a streak, keep wiping as this is a sign that excess wax is left on the surface.

6. For a deep shine, apply a second coat of wax in the same manner.

7. How to freshen antiques that smell: air outside on a warm, dry, sunny day. Shade from direct sunlight. Pour talcum powder or baking soda over the surface to absorb odours.

8. How to treat deep scratches: If deeply scratched, use a wood filler and apply in several thin layers rather than one thick layer.

1) Ensure the iron is unplugged.

2) Remove limescale by filling with 100 millilitres of Magic Kettle Descaler, filling to maximum capacity with Descaler. Leave for 1-2 hours, empty and then rinse out with clean water.

3) NOTE: check manufacturer’s instructions first, as this could cause damage to some self-cleaning irons.

4) To clean the soleplate, wipe and polish with a Microfibre Cloth when iron is cold.

5) Remove burnt on ‘sticky’ marks by rubbing them with a Microfibre Cloth when iron is warm. More stubborn marks may have to be dealt with using white toothpaste or bicarbonate of soda.

6) As always, we advise you to try a test patch first and contact us for more specific advice if you are unsure that the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions.
