1. What was it like before you had our product or service?

When I took over my role in 2013 I set about reviewing all of our suppliers and looking to improve service, deliveries and most importantly price. We were using a large regional cleaning supply company but it felt like we had to fit with them and not the other way around, product concerns were difficult to be addressed, a telephone order system felt outdated, prices were too high and more importantly they lacked a friendly touch. We may have been a small client/account to them but no matter what size the client should always come first.

2. What problem(s) were you trying to solve with our product or service?

I wanted a straightforward easy ordering system, full details on products and available products and a professional friendly service.

3. Where did you start your search?

During the first few weeks of reviewing suppliers we just happened to have a random unannounced visit from Sam Binley, the regional rep for Spectrum. I did have meetings with other suppliers but none came close to the service and products on offer from Spectrum.

4. What made our product or service stand out from other options?

Friendly but professional with attention to detail. Training on products and COSHH for staff. Product availability understanding our needs and not trying for direct us to more expensive products but to what we needed.

5. What was the obstacle that almost prevented you from buying our product or service?

Location of Spectrum was a minor concern, as speaking to Sam she told me that you only had a few clients in our area but guaranteed that you would always deliver, which you have……even the Beast from the East couldn’t stop your drivers!

6. What features sold you on buying this product or service?

A huge selection of products that fully fitted our needs and which were well understood by Spectrum. Costs were reduced from our previous supplier without compromising quality. Professional support in all areas. We were in the process expanding our hospice by building a new purpose built 10 bedded In-Patient Unit and Spectrum supported along the whole fitting out and completion of the work including; advised on how to best fit out rooms, products for different areas and multi surface cleaning, set up COSHH information and signage for each area etc.

7. What made you happiest about working with our company?

Confidence, Products & Excellent Customer Service e.g. the delivery drivers, Shane and now Anthony, are excellent with taking deliveries to the cleaning store (last company would just leave them in reception) when the staff are busy and have an excellent rapport with all staff in the hospice and not just my team. Excellent communication with Spectrum form the simplest things like phoning with an enquiry and speaking to a spectrum staff member who make you feel like you are valued and not just another call.

8. What have you been able to achieve since using our product or service?

Consistency, we have had several Infection Control Inspections over the years and they are very happy with the cleanliness of the hospice, which isn’t just down to hard work but to having the correct product for the right job which over time has been supported by Spectrum.

9. What has exceeded your expectations since working with us?

You have never failed to deliver an excellent standard over the years we have been working with yourselves. Excellent communications from everyone including contact with Senior Management which is often missing from other companies. Excellent products and adapting to fit our needs and not just yours.

My role essentially is to keep Ampleforth College clean and tidy. Before discovering Spectrum, we found our cleaning and hygiene supplies were disjointed in communication and customer care.

We needed to bring about some consistency throughout all departments to enhance our product quality , range, staff knowledge and training.

IWe enjoy working in collaboration with them, not just because they are local but, because of the ease of approach from all departments from telesales to delivery drivers to the MD.  Since working with Spectrum our staff knowledge has increased significantly and we now using fit for purpose products best for the job in hand.

I have been with Dean Court for the last 4 years’ and in that time Spectrum has always been the supplier for our chemicals etc.
The quality of the chemicals used and easy to read and explained information towards safe use of them is second to none. I was apprehensive at first in case I was restricted being able to order 1 day a week. I can order as many times as I like during the week and get my delivery weekly.

The thing that makes me happiest about working with Spectrum is the  one on one friendly training, easy to understand hygiene management  scheme. All of the staff are Friendly too.
We have been able to implement correct staff training, correct usage of chemicals and equipment in the kitchen.  We are provided with easy to follow and understand diagrams round my kitchen for the correct use of each chemical.
